Promoting Nutrition, Health, and Hygiene in Early Learners

Poshan Pakhwada is a significant initiative under the Government of India’s flagship program POSHAN Abhiyaan, launched in March 2018 with the vision of a malnutrition-free India. The mission integrates various schemes to eradicate malnutrition among children, women, and lactating mothers through a multi-sectoral approach. Observed from April 16th to 22nd, 2025, Poshan Pakhwada focuses on raising awareness about the importance of nutrition, promoting healthy eating habits, and fostering good hygiene practices.

In alignment with the objectives of POSHAN Abhiyaan, the Foundation Stage of AhlconInternational School organized a variety of engaging and educational activities to promote nutritional awareness and instill healthy lifestyle habits among young learners.

Students participated enthusiastically in a range of thoughtfully curated activities:

Poster-Making: Children created vibrant and informative posters showcasing the significance of balanced diets, dangers of malnutrition, and tips for maintaining healthy eating habits.

Awareness Videos: Age-appropriate and visually engaging videos were screened, emphasizing the importance of nutrition, avoiding food wastage, and maintaining hygiene.

Art Sessions: Students expressed their understanding of nutrition through creative means such as drawing healthy food platters, making clay models of food items, and representing food groups artistically.

Interactive Quiz & Games: A fun quiz helped students distinguish between healthy and junk food while encouraging them to make smarter food choices. A sorting game further reinforced these ideas in an interactive and enjoyable manner.

Hygiene Demonstrations: Practical sessions were held to teach proper handwashing techniques, tooth brushing, and personal cleanliness. These activities linked hygiene to overall health and well-being in an age-appropriate context.

These initiatives not only deepened the students’ understanding of nutritional values and healthy living, but also empowered them to become ambassadors of health and hygiene within their homes and communities. The event was marked by enthusiastic participation, thoughtful discussions, and a genuine commitment to adopting better lifestyle practices.
